"GardenFest of Lights celebrates "Natural Splendor" this year with more than half a million lights throughout the Garden, botanical decorations and displays in the Conservatory. *NOTE: GardenFest of Lights will be open on New Year's Eve.

GARDENFEST ILLUMINATION: GardenFest of Lights kicks off Friday, November 23 with a GardenFest Illumination. Doors open at 5 p.m., but initially the Garden will be lit only by luminary candles. At 5:30 p.m. the Garden comes alive in lights!

LIGHTS: Using more than half a million lights, GardenFest is a fantasyland complete with the forms of flowers, birds and butterflies. From a grand peacock preening in the Sunken Garden to a red and white peppermint forest, the lights offer surprises at every turn. In the Children's Garden, visitors can use a wheelchair-accessible ramp to climb into the Tree House thirteen feet above the ground for a magnificent view of the lights and Garden. Children can also run through a maze of lights."

Take an intimate holiday tour of Maymont…by moonlight. Horse-drawn carriages transport arriving guests down the luminary-lit lane to Maymont House for a glimpse of the beautifully decorated home of Major and Mrs. James Dooley. 100 Miles of Lights
Millions of lights and hundreds of events will entertain visitors to Central and Southeast Virginia this holiday season during "100 Miles of Lights." Features holiday activities from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day in Richmond and six other cities: Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach. In Richmond, begin your holiday celebration at the annual downtown Grand Illumination where millions of lights and 100 whimsical reindeer will be lighted. Enjoy colorful light displays and botanical decorations at GardenFest of Lights. Other Richmond traditions include the Fan District Walking Tour, the James River Parade of Lights, Joy From the World, performances of The Nutcracker and the Capital City Kwanzaa Festival.

Grand Illumination of the James Center

The Grand Illumination of the James Center has become a Richmond tradition. The James Center will host the 22nd Annual Grand Illumination at James Center, the brightest holiday event in downtown Richmond. Along with the lighting of the city skyline, millions of tiny lights and 100 whimsical reindeer will be lighted in a festival that features music, Santa, Snow Bear, Snow Queen and many more exciting events. Clowns, magicians and holiday food round out a festive, joyful way to begin the holiday season. Ukrop’s Christmas Parade (Broad Street)
